About

DESCRIPTION: Trials are won through compelling testimony that establishes credibility, tells a clear story, and withstands scrutiny. While many litigators excel at cross-examination, direct examination is often underdeveloped, leaving critical evidence poorly presented and case theories unsupported. Effective direct examination requires deliberate preparation, strategic structure, and skillful delivery to ensure fact-finders understand, remember, and believe the testimony presented. This program provides a practical, trial-tested framework for preparing and conducting effective direct examination. Participants will learn a systematic process for discovering a witness's story through effective interviews, organization of testimony with a narrative framework, and presentation of evidence in a way that is clear, credible, and memorable. The course also teaches strategic ways to present the testimony, including visuals to guide the fact-finder inferences and delivery methods that enhance retention and engagement. Techniques for an effective redirect will also be covered. Participants will leave with concrete tools they can immediately apply to strengthen direct examination and support overall case strategy.
