About

Professionalism requires more than just knowledge of the law; it demands decorum in and out of the courtroom, as well as maintaining civility and adaptability in the ever-changing practice of law; and integrity beyond reproach. This CLE provides practical guidance on how to balance being an effective advocate for your client while keeping a professional reputation with opposing counsel and the court. Through the use of hypotheticals, observations from the bench, and a survey of common law trends, this program will provide you with practical solutions for handling common pitfalls that can test a litigator’s boundaries of professionalism, and ensure you are not only an effective advocate but also a respected member of the legal community. The following ABA Rules of Professional Conduct will be discussed: 1.1 (Competence), 3.1 (Meritorious Claims and Contentions), 3.3 (Candor toward the Tribunal), 3.5 (Impartiality and Decorum of the Tribunal); 3.8 (Special Responsibilities as Prosecutor); 4.1 (Truthfulness in Statements to Others), and 8.2 (Judicial and Legal Officials). You will watch a video, be provided materials, and then fill out a certificate of completion should your state require that. Access to this CLE is available for 180 days following your purchase. Approved for 1 ethics credit in OR, WA, & TX. Approved for 1/2 ethics and 1/2 professionalism in FL. Approved for 1 civility credit in CA. Approved for 1 professionalism credit in GA.
