Check your Bar website or our list: https://www.clecast.net/materials The Second Amendment has been debated by scholars, but recently the United States Supreme Court started defining its purpose more specifically. With the recent ruling in Bruen, a standard has been created for how to deal with government regulations that impact gun rights under the Second Amendment. The history of this jurisprudence is discussed here to understand how the Court’s view of this Amendment has changed over time. The most recent cases that have been decided by the Supreme Court are highlighted, as well as those that are pending in the appellate courts. As this legal and political discussion continues to be addressed, attorneys should be well-informed in order to be effective in either related litigation or discussions with legislators and their community. Whether there is an interest in keeping the status quo or making changes, this information will assist in effective advocacy.
