About

DESCRIPTION: This program addresses the complex and often underappreciated challenge of representing state and federal law enforcement officers when a single critical incident, such as a use-of-force event, officer-involved shooting, or joint task force operation, simultaneously triggers multiple, overlapping legal proceedings across two sovereigns. Participants will learn to identify all forums of exposure at the outset of representation, understand how evidence and testimony generated in one proceeding creates risk in others, and apply specific defensive strategies tailored to both state and federal law enforcement officers. The program includes a dedicated section on the unique protections available to federal agents under the Supremacy Clause and the federal officer removal statute, as well as a practical analysis of Egbert v. Boule and the narrowing of Bivens civil liability. For accreditation information, check your Bar website or our list: https://www.clecast.net/accreditation. You will watch a video, be provided materials, and then fill out a certificate of completion should your state require that. Access to this CLE is available for 365 days following your purchase.
