California CLE Reporting Requirements: What Attorneys Need to Know for 2026

California MCLE Requirements

For the reporting period ending March 29, 2026, California attorneys must complete:

25 total MCLE credit hours within the three-year period, including:

  • 12.5 participatory hours 

  • 4 hours in legal ethics

  • 2 hours of elimination of bias in the legal profession

    • At least one of these hours must focus on implicit bias and bias-reducing strategies

  • 2 hours of competence topics

    • At least one of these hours must focus on prevention and detection

  • 1 hour of technology in the practice of law

  • 1 hour about civility in the legal profession

Earn all required credits by March 29, 2026.
