California MCLE Requirements

For the reporting period ending March 29, 2026, California attorneys must complete:

• 25 total MCLE credit hours within the three-year period, including

  • 12.5 participatory hours 

  • 4 hours – Legal Ethics

  • 2 hours – Elimination of Bias in the legal profession and society

    • At least one of these hours must focus on implicit bias and bias-reducing strategies

• 2 hours – Competence 

  • At least one of these hours must focus on prevention and detection

• 1 hour – Technology in the practice of law

• 1 hour – Civility in the legal profession
